A man has appeared in court charged with abducting and sexually assaulting a six-year-old at a Glasgow school.

School worker James Moran allegedly lead the child into a store cupboard at a primary school in the south side, stripped her and took a picture of her.

The 32-year-old from Dalmarnock, Glasgow, appeared in private from custody at the city’s sheriff court.

He was represented by defence lawyer Bill McCluskey who made no plea on Moran’s behalf.

Papers from the court claim Moran “did abduct” the child on May 2 at the school and “did take her by the arm, lead her into a store cupboard and did detain her against her will”.

A second charge alleges Moran sexually assaulted the child by removing her clothing and underwear, and take an indecent photograph.

Moran was remanded in custody and will appear against next week for a full committal hearing.
