School girl knocked down in Kilmarnock
The child has been taken by ambulance to hospital
An 11 year old school girl has been knocked down in the Shortlees area of Kilmarnock.
Emergency services were called to Shortlees Crescent at around 8:30am - as we understand it the air ambulance attended but the girl was transported to hospital.
Police say the youngster is being treated for potentially serious injuries.
The driver of the car is uninjured.
Drivers are being warned to expect road closures.
Police released this statement: ''At around 0830 hours, Tuesday 14 March, police and emergency services responded to reports of a 11 year-old girl having been struck by a car at Shortless Crescent in Kilmarnock. ''
She has been taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital to receive treatment for suspected serious injuries.''
The driver is uninjured as a result of the incident.''
The road remains closed to allow for ongoing enquiries. Local diversions are in place.''
