Images released as detectives follow up Sauchiehall Street assault

Police officers say they’re keen to speak to a man shown in CCTV images about a serious assault on Sauchiehall Street in March.

The incident occurred at about 3.30am on Friday 16 March 2018, where a 19-year-old man was seriously assaulted. He was injured and had to go to hospital.

Detectives are keen to speak to the person shown in the images as they believe that he may be able to assist with their enquiries. He is described as being in his early 20’s and wearing a black t-shirt with the words 'VANS OFF THE WALL' emblazoned on the back, black skinny jeans and black trainers.

Detective Constable John Fagan, Greater Glasgow CID who is dealing with this enquiry said: “This was a violent and unprovoked assault on a young man enjoying a night out in Glasgow.

“The victim who was separated from his friends was assaulted for no apparent reason causing him serious injuries. It is important that we identify this individual and we seek the assistance of the public in tracking down those responsible.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Greater Glasgow Police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed anonymously."
