Crowds of Sabrina Carpenter fans were left disappointed last night, after being turned away from the Glasgow-leg of her Short n Sweet tour when their tickets would not scan.

Dozens of excited fans were told that their resale tickets, bought on platforms like Eventbrite and Viagogo, were fraudulent by the box office at the OVO Hydro.

Carly Watson from East Kilbride paid £70 each for two resale tickets on Eventbrite but was part of the group told they would not get to see the Espresso singer perform live.

She told Clyde 1: "We've bought tickets through Eventbrite before and we just assumed it was a trustworthy source.

"We had booking confirmation and the code to scan to get in.

"You wouldn't think that they were fake - but they said it was because it was a resale ticket rather than buying it directly through the event supplier.

"When we got to the door, they told us to go to the box office because our tickets wouldn't scan, and there were so many other people there in the same situation.

"It was really sad, there were a lot of kids that were excited and weren't able to get in.

"It was quite gutting to be honest.

"It was more sad to see all the young people and everyone around us who were gutted they couldn't get in.

"Going forward I'm definitely going to buy from the official ticket supplier, because I don't want to go through this again."

A spokesperson for the SEC said: “We can confirm there were some customers who had unfortunately purchased counterfeit tickets and were unable to secure entry to the performance.

"Our venue is a member of STAR (Secure Tickets from Authorised Retailers) and we only recommend that fans buy from an official STAR member.”

A spokesperson for Eventbrite said: "We take unauthorised (re-)selling very seriously and have a dedicated team who actively monitors for fraudulent activity and removes fraudulent event creators and their events when we become aware of them.

"In this case, some tickets were purchased during the brief period before the fraudulent listing was identified and taken down.

"Unfortunately, the payments for these fraudulent tickets seem to have been made offline and outside of our platform so we are not able to refund the orders."
