Health and Safety chiefs have banned a fairground inspector who carried out checks on the Tsunami roller-coaster at M&D's just three weeks before the crash last month.

The Health and Safety Executive has taken enforcement action to stop Craig Boswell inspecting any more rides and warned other amusement parks to carry out extra checks.as part of its ongoing investigation into the crash at the theme park on the 26th of June.

Eight children and two adults were taken to hospital in the immediate aftermath of the crash.

One 11-year-old boy still remains in hospital.

The watchdog said it has served the inspector with a prohibition notice which prevents him from inspecting any fairground rides until he has demonstrated “diligence”.

In a statement, the HSE said: “Ride owners directly affected by this individual’s work are being contacted through industry bodies to ensure they are able take any appropriate action that is necessary.”
