Detectives are continuing enquiries following a robbery in Greenock that's left a man with life-changing injuries.

Around 8.30pm on 28 February, two men forced their way into a flat in Murdieston Street and assaulted a 29-year-old man.

They also made off with a four-figure sum of cash.

The man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. Medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing CCTV footage for any information on the suspects.

Detective Constable Brian Connelly said: “This young man has sustained life changing injuries in this violent and unprovoked attack. We are following a positive line of inquiry, however, we still need assistance from the public and I am asking anyone with information to contact us, no matter how insignificant the information may seem. I would also ask anyone with recording equipment to check the footage as it could hold images which could assist our ongoing investigation.”

He added: I’m aware people have concerns following the death of a man in Nairn Street earlier this week, however, I want to reassure everyone that there are no links to that incident. Additional officers remain on patrol and anyone with concerns can speak to those officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3383 of 28 February, 2023. Alternatively, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where your information can be given anonymously.
