Roads in Hamilton town centre remain closed due to burst water main
Scottish Water says there is a team on the scene trying to fix the problem.
Drivers in Hamilton are being asked to avoid Quarry Street and Duke Street because of a burst water main.
The 12 inch pipe burst this morning and Scottish Water says there is now a team working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
Diversions are now in place and engineers isolated the burst main which was affecting normal supplies for some customers in the area.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: "We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused and any extended journey times due to the diversions.
"While repairs are being carried out, tankers are in operation adding water to the local network to help restore and maintain customer supplies.
"Any customer who experiences brown or discoloured water should run their cold-water kitchen tap at a reduced pressure until it runs clear.
"They should then repeat the process with any other taps affected."
