Return of Forth and Clyde Canal swimming challenge
Entries for the Red Bull Neptune Steps endurance swim open today
The UK’s toughest open water swimming event is returning to the Neptune Steps in Glasgow.
Entries for the Red Bull challenge at the Forth and Clyde Canal in Maryhill officially open this morning at 10am.
Organisers say they have doubled the capacity from 100 to 200 competitors and this year they have introduced a female only race.
redbull.co.uk/neptunesteps The event is a mass participation contest, designed for competitive open water swimmers with a strong track record in swimming, triathlon, or adventure racing, keen to pit themselves against some of the UK and Ireland’s top endurance athletes.
Last year’s winner Mark Deans of Glasgow who is currently in training for the Australian Open Water Championships in Sydney told us: ‘Swimming in the canal was a unique experience… and there were so many tough competitors’.
