Residents evacuated after vehicles set alight

Detectives are asking the public for help in an ongoing investigation where a number of vehicles were deliberately set on fire in Crossford, South Lanarkshire

A number of vehicles were deliberately set on fire around 11:10pm Thursday 16th March.

Detectives are appealing for information about the incident which occurred outside of a property in Lanark Road, Crossford.

Several residents had to be evacuated after emergency services were called to the scene.

The incident is being treated as 'willful' following a joint investigation between the police and fire services.

Detective Inspector Kenny Dalrymple from Wishaw CID said: "This was a deliberate and reckless act and extensive enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Lanark Road on Thursday night and may have seen anything suspicious to please get in touch."
