A republican march planned for Glasgow city centre this weekend could be banned, following the riots between Loyalist and Irish Unity groups in Govan on Friday night.
A republican march planned for Glasgow city centre this weekend could be banned, following the riots between Loyalist and Irish Unity groups in Govan on Friday night.
The local authority has confirmed to Clyde News permission for the Blythswood Square demonstration, which was granted before the unrest, could be pulled if police ask them to cancel it.
They are waiting for an updated risk assessment and will review the procession schedule then.
A spokesman said: “We’ll look again at the processions scheduled for this weekend once we have an updated assessment from police. It is important we understand what impact they expect the events of Friday night to have on those processions.”
