Re-Appeal Three Months After Glasgow Man's Disappearance

Published 14th Aug 2015

Three months after a Glasgow man disappeared police are making a re-appeal for information.

52 year old John Murphy from Dennistoun disappeared on the 12th May from his home in Craigpark Drive and his family say it is completely out of character.

John is around 5ft 8, with a medium build and short brown hair which is turning grey. He is normally clean shaven and was last seen wearing a cream coloured polo shirt, black cargo trousers, black work boots and a black fleece jacket.

The father of five has never gone missing before and his family are extremely distressed by his disappearance.

Numerous police resources have been utilised during this enquiry including the Force helicopter, dog branch and specialist search officers. Officers also continue to examine CCTV footage as well as following up possible sightings reported by members of the public.

Sergeant Martin Morris from London Road Police Station said: “So far all attempts to trace John have proved unsuccessful and his family are becoming increasingly worried about his welfare.

“For John to just disappear like this is completely out of character and we are asking him to get in touch with someone as soon as possible to let them know he is safe.

“I would also continue to appeal to members of the public to keep an eye out and if you think you see John please contact police immediately.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
