Re-appeal for information on missing man with dementia

Officers are issuing a CCTV image in their ongoing efforts to trace 69 year-old Charles O’Neill from Knightswood, who has been missing since Tuesday 9 May 2017.

Officers are issuing a CCTV image in their ongoing efforts to trace 69 year-old Charles O’Neill from Knightswood, who has been missing since Tuesday 9 May 2017.

Mr O’Neill who suffers from Dementia, left his home in Moat Avenue, Knightswood around 12pm hours on Tuesday. Mr O’Neill has been missing before, but not for this length of time.

He is described as 5ft 6 inches in height and of slim build with a tanned complexion.

When he was last seen he was wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans, a checked shirt and trainers.

The top of his left index finger is missing.

Mr O'Neill is known to frequent the Dumbarton area, and officers are currently carrying out enquiries in that area.

Sergeant Debbie McCartney from Drumchapel Police Office said today:

“Given the period of time Mr O’Neill has been missing, we are concerned for his safety and well being. His family are extremely worried and just want him home safe and well.

“We have a confirmed sighting of him around 3:50pm hours near to the Shell Garage of the A82 at Drumchapel where he was walking westbound and officers have been carrying out searches in the Drumchapel and Clydebank areas.

"They are being assisted by specialist resources including the Force helicopter.

"Mr O'Neill is also known to frequent the Dumbarton and enquiries are also being carried out in that area too.

“The area where Mr O’Neill was last seen on the A82 at Drumchapel is a very busy area and I would urge anyone who has seen Mr O’Neill, or has any information regarding his whereabouts to contact Drumchapel Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2960 of 9 May 2017.”
