Appeal for information after woman raped in Trongate
One man has been arrested in connection.
An investigation's underway after a 36-year old woman was raped in a lane in the Trongate area of Glasgow on Tuesday evening.
The woman was found in a distressed state between 5.30pm and 5.45pm in New Wynd by members of the public. She was assisted by members of the public who then left the area before she was attacked by a man shortly afterwards.
Detective Inspector Suzanne McNulty, the officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for information. She said:
"New Wynd is a pedestrianised lane, running between the King Street NCP car park and the Trongate, and is a busy thoroughfare during the day.
"I am appealing to anyone who helped the woman or who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident to come forward."

As a 37-year-old man person has been arrested, proceedings are active. He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 12 September 2019.
