Man accused of assaulting three police officers during Rangers title party

A man is accused of assaulting three police officers during the Rangers fans title party in Glasgow city centre.
Jamie Young, 20, allegedly attacked them on Queen Street on May 15, 2021.
Hundreds of jubilant Gers fans gathered in George Square and the surrounding area to celebrate the club winning the Scottish Premiership title that day.
Court papers state Young culpably and recklessly threw a glass bottle at officers forming a police cordon and an object at members of the public.
It is stated he went on to behave in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing as well as punching and kicking police shields before gesturing in an aggressive manner.
The charges state Young repeatedly kicked a shield held by sergeant Robert Ferguson.
Young is also claimed to have punched and kicked the shield of PC Daniel Graham and attempted to seize hold of it.
Young is lastly said to have repeatedly punched and kicked PC Paul Mallon's shield and attempted to grab it.
Young pleaded not guilty to the five charges today at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
A continued hearing was fixed for next month.
Young, of the city's Cardonald, remains on bail meantime.
