How rail strike will affect commuters in Glasgow and the West

members of the RMT union are walking off the job in the first of a series of days of industrial action in their dispute with employer Scotrail about plans for driver-only trains

Published 20th Jun 2016

Commuters across Scotland are facing travel chaos as planned rail strikes are set to go ahead.

Members of the RMT union are in dispute with their employer Scotrail about plans to introduce driver-only trains.

The Scottish Government is urging commuters to consider car-sharing or working from home as an increase in traffic is predicted.

A multi-agency response team - involving Network Rail, Scotrail, Traffic Scotland, Police Scotland, and rail operating companies - will be set up to monitor events on Tuesday.
