Rail services from Glasgow to Manchester and Liverpool will be disrupted today, with no services running on the West Coast Mainline.

TransPennine Express is urging people to plan their journeys in advance, as strike action from RMT conductors starts.

An amended timetable is in place, with more disruption expected on the following dates:

Sundays until 5th June

Saturday 16th April (Easter)

Saturday 30th April (May Bank Holiday)

Saturday 4th June (Jubilee Bank Holiday)

The disruption comes as Transpennine conductors demand better pay conditions, arguing they want more money for working on Sundays and on their days off.

Glyn Hellam from Transpennine Express said:

"Sadly, the RMT have informed us they're going to be on strike every Sunday until the 5th of June.

"This includes the bank holiday weekend, so the Saturday and the Sunday."

He added:

"Network Rail are also carrying out engineering work, so their will be replacement bus services in place between Carlisle, Lockerbie, Edinburgh and Glasgow."
