Glasgow City Council break up ice on Queen's Park pond
It's after hundreds of people have gathered on the ice in recent days.
Glasgow City Council workers have broken up the ice on the pond at Queen's Park in the south side of Glasgow.
It's after a 12-year old boy fell through the pond yesterday - he wasn't injured from the incident.
Hundreds of people have been pictured gathering on the ice at the pond since Saturday, despite warnings from the police about the ice beginning to thin as temperatures rise.
Several people have also been pictured ice skating on the frozen pond.
A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: "Despite signs warning of thin ice on the pond and a police presence at the park, people have continued to go onto the ice, which is clearly a cause for concern.
"To guard against a risk to safety and to prevent people from going on to the ice, we have broken up ice around the pond’s edge."
