Last updated 9th Sep 2022
A Book of Condolence to pay tribute to the Queen is being opened at Glasgow city council headquarters.
It will be available for members of the public from 2pm to 8pm today.
People can also access it from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm.
The front wall of the City Chambers has also been designated as a special place for residents to leave flowers following the Queen’s death yesterday.
Announcing the Book of Condolence, Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren said: “As Lord Lieutenant, I will be the first signatory in a Book of Condolence, on behalf of the City of Glasgow, to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The book will then be signed by the city’s second and third citizens, The Lord Dean and the Deacon Convener.”
Responding to Her Majesty’s death yesterday, Provost McLaren described Queen Elizabeth II as: “A monarch who has served with pride, dignity, wisdom and grace for more than 70 years. The longest serving monarch in British history. A record breaking reign that oversaw and withstood many changes and challenges. Her Majesty was a figure of constancy and comfort to many.”
In East Renfrewshire, Books of Condolence are available for members of the public to sign at the council's offices in Eastwood and Barrhead, between Monday and Saturday, from 9am-5pm.
In Renfrewshire, three books are available at Johnstone Town Hall, Renfrew Town Hall, and Tweedie Hall in Linwood.
