Police launch major probe after truck was set on fire on Ayr

Police have launched a major investigation after a truck was torched in residential part of Ayr.

It happened late on Thursday night – but thankfully no-one was injured.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on on Prestwick Road near to Lisburn Road around 9.20pm with reports of a Ford Flatbed truck on fire.

The blaze was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service .

Detective Constable Michael Grant said: “Thankfully no one was hurt as a result of this reckless act.

“We are treating the fire as deliberate and are asking anyone with any information to come forward and speak to officers.

“I would ask if you noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area to get in contact with police and I would also appeal to anyone who has possible dashcam or CCTV footage that may be able to assist us with our enquiries.”
