Police treating canal death as "unexplained"

The death of a man found in a canal is being treated as unexplained''.

The man's body was discovered in the Forth and Clyde Canal near Falkirk on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: Police were called to the Forth and Clyde Canal at lock 6 near Bainsford at around 3pm yesterday (12th July) after a man's body was discovered in the water.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained however there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.

Officers are now in the process of informing his next of kin and as in all cases of sudden death a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.''
