Police treating attack on man in Greenock as attempted murder

Police are treating an attack on a man in Greenock involving three women as attempted murder.

The 31-year-old was left with serious injuries to his upper body after the trio got out of a car on Florence Street around 10.30pm last night.

He was taken to Inverclyde Hospital where he is in a stable condition.

One of the women is described as strongly built with blonde hair.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff, of Greenock CID, said: "We don't know where the women or the car went after the attack and we're appealing for anyone with information to contact us.

"We believe it was a targeted attack and additional patrols are being carried out in the area."
