Extensive enquiries are continuing into the murder of Glasgow man Euan Johnston who was shot in his car at Kinning Park.

The 26-year old had stopped at a set of traffic lights on Scotland Street in his black Audi RS4 when he was shot at by an occupant of a dark coloured Audi Q5 on Tuesday night.

The Audi vehicle then made off at speed and was last seen turning into Scotland Street heading for the M8 motorway towards Kingston Bridge.

Mr Johnston was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.

Specialist officers are currently conducting an extensive examination of CCTV footage to further establish the sequence of events which led up to the murder of Mr Johnston.

Local Policing Commander for the Greater Glasgow Division, Chief Superintendent Brian McInulty, said: “This shocking incident will understandably be alarming to the people of Glasgow. Resources from within the Greater Glasgow Division are working closely with specialist national resources from across Police Scotland which have been dedicated to this inquiry.

"There is a significant command and control oversight of the inquiry to ensure the senior investigating officer and his team have all the resources they require to ensure those responsible are traced.

“Acts of violence such as this are thankfully uncommon and have no place in our communities, which are strong and resilient. I would like to reassure people that we are doing absolutely everything we can to establish the full circumstances and ensure those responsible, who showed such a flagrant disregard to public safety, are caught.

“There will be a continued high profile policing presence in our communities. If you have any information you wish to pass on, or if you have any concerns, please speak to our officers who will be more than happy to assist.

“I am confident that somebody must know who is responsible for this crime. I would urge them to contact officers at the incident room based at Baird Street via 101. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
