Police searching for men after taxi stolen in Easterhouse

The incident happened late on Thursday evening

Police in Easterhouse are appealing for information, after a taxi was stolen on Thursday night.

Two men flagged down the blue Skoda in Langbar Crescent near Edinburgh Road, around 11.53pm on August 22.

One of the men threatened the driver with a knife before taking off in the vehicle, which was later found abandoned having crashed into a tree near St Luke’s Avenue in Carluke.

A second vehicle was reported stolen from Lanark Road, Carluke in the early hours of Friday 23 August.

The black Mercedes EQB was later found abandoned in Hallhill Road, Barlanark, Glasgow.

Detectives believe the two incidents are connected.

Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding this robbery and we are appealing for any potential witnesses to get in touch.

“From CCTV it is understood that a number of people were waiting at a bus stop on Edinburgh Road at the time of the incident and we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.

“We would also urge anyone who may have seen a blue Skoda taxi or a black Mercedes EQB being driven erratically in the Carluke area in the early hours of Friday morning, or who may have dash-cam footage of significance, to please come forward.”
