Police search for gang of youths after Linwood attack on young dog walker

A teenage dog walker has been the victim of a senseless attack by a group of youths in Renfrewshire.

The 14-year-old was confronted and assaulted around 9 last night by a group of about 10 to 15 boys and girls in Erskinefauld Road, Linwood, one of them was carrying a baseball bat.

Emergency services were called after the youths fled in the direction of Clippens Road and the victim was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

CCTV and door to door enquiries are ongoing as officers look to identify the mob.

Detective Constable Claire Eaton of Paisley CID said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack by a large group of youths. It is vital that we establish the full circumstances of what happened and trace those responsible.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around 9pm on Saturday who saw or heard anything suspicious. Similarly, anyone with private CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam of the area is urged to review the footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
