Police To Revisit Site Where Missing Airdrie Man Disappeared One Month Ago
Police are appealing for information about a man from Airdrie who has been missing for a month.
Milan Vass, 29, was last seen at his West Kirk Street home by a friend at 10.30pm on the evening of Wednesday August 19.
He had returned to Scotland from Hungary the previous day with his father and some colleagues to work as a roughcaster after a few months in his native country.
His family and friends are said to be distraught'' at his disappearance, particularly as he did not make contact with them on his birthday on September 5.
This evening, police will revisit the street where he was last seen and will speak to pedestrians and motorists in the hope of jogging people's memories while tomorrow his mother, Marta, will join officers to directly appeal for information.
Chief inspector Gavin Russell said: It's now around four weeks since Milan was last seen at his home address and, understandably, his family and friends are distraught as he has never been missing before and hasn't been in touch with any of them, which is very unlike him.
"Milan, who is a Hungarian national, has been living in Scotland since 2014. He previously resided in Viewpark, Uddingston.
"I must stress at this time, there is no evidence of any criminality and Milan is being treated as a missing person.
"We are also liaising closely with police colleagues in Hungary, although it is understood that Milan did not have his passport in his possession.
"I would urge anyone who has any knowledge of where Milan might be to contact us immediately. Similarly, I'd ask Milan himself to contact police or his family to let them know he is okay.''
Mr Russell said Mr Vass is a keen footballer and had previously been captain of Glasgow United FC, who train in Toryglen.
He is known to frequent Strathclyde Country Park, Bothwell and Uddingston. Mr Vass had only recently moved to Airdrie before he went missing.
Police said the missing man had been going through some personal issues, which may be a factor for his disappearance.
He is described as 6ft 2ins, of medium build with short black hair, brown eyes and a scar on his forehead.
He was wearing a grey t-shirt with "California'' written on it, a blue Adidas tracksuit top, blue Adidas tracksuit trousers with orange stripes and possibly a red jumper.
