Officers back in Milton for a 'stop and speak' after murder two weeks ago

Detectives investigating the murder of Billyjoe Bates in Milton, will return to the area to speak to members of the public, exactly two weeks on from when he was found seriously injured. Plain clothes and uniform officers will be in Ashgill Road between 12pm and 4pm on Sunday 2 December to speak to people in an attempt to jog their memories in case they can assist officers in piecing together the circumstances surrounding this murder.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 2.30pm on Sunday 18 November after 28-year old Billyjoe Bates was found lying seriously injured in the street.
Mr Bates was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he later died in the early hours of Thursday.
Detective Chief Inspector Suzie Chow from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team (West) said: “The friends and family of Mr Bates have been left completely devastated by his murder and we are appealing for the community of Milton to support us in finding out what happened to him and why.
“This afternoon we will be at the scene speaking to pedestrians and motorists who perhaps travel through the area on a regular basis in the hope that they can remember something they saw or heard which seemed out of the ordinary.
“Even the slightest detail could be important in helping us get to the bottom of this murder investigation and provide answers for the family of Mr Bates.
