Last updated 16th Mar 2017
Detectives investigating a shooting in Shawlands have returned to the scene to carry out a stop and speak operation, exactly one week on.
Around 8am on Thursday 9 March 2017, a 34 year old man was getting into his car outside his home in Shawhill Road, when he saw a man standing at the bottom of the driveway.
As he approached him, the man shot him in the leg.
The victim then chased the suspect down Shawhill Road and turned right into Hector Road then across Pollokshaws Road and thereafter he turned left into St Ronan’s Drive where he got into the passenger seat of a dark coloured car. The car then sped off onto Kennilworth Avenue.
The suspect is described as 5ft7 inches in height and was wearing dark coloured clothing with a dark coloured beanie hat.
More than 200 pedestrians and motorists were spoken to as part of this morning’s stop and speak operation.
Detective Inspector Colin Hailstones from Cathcart Police Office said:
“This morning’s operation was very worthwhile and officers spoke to a wide range of members of the public, including people heading to work, tradesmen and parents dropping their children off at school.
“Our dedicated inquiry team are continuing to examine CCTV footage as well as working to establish a motive and identify whoever committed this brazen and dangerous act.
“Police Scotland will not tolerate this type of mindless violence in any form, and although we believe this was a targeted attack, we do have additional police patrols in the area to provide reassurance.
“Information from members of the public is going to be absolutely vital in helping us bring the person responsible to justice and I would appeal to anyone who could potentially assist with our investigation to please come forward.
“Anyone with information can contact the incident room at Cathcart Police Station via 101 or alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
