Detectives in Shettleston are continuing enquiries following a serious assault in the Tollcross area of Glasgow.
A 44 year old man was walking on Tollcross Road near to the flats across from Tollcross Park and the nearby Lidl when he was approached by a man who he got into an altercation with at around 7.30pm last night.
The man was then assaulted by the suspect, causing him to sustain a facial injury.
The suspect then made off in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as white, aged in his late 40s, around 5ft 6 to 5ft 7 inches in height. He is described as being of medium build with short grey hair, and was wearing a black 'tammy' style hat, a black jacket and jeans.
Detective Sergeant Ainsley Stewart, who is dealing with this enquiry, said today:
"This was a frightening attack for the man concerned, who sustained a serious facial injury in the attack. From our initial enquiries we know that there were a number of people in the car park at the nearby Lidl, and the victim did shout for help over to them. I'd be keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Lidl and who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"The area in which the assault took place is very residential with a number of flats nearby and is usually very busy with pedestrians and motorists, so I am confident there will be people out there who may have seen the altercation and subsequent assault take place. I'd be very keen to speak to any nearby residents who may have witnessed something to come forward, as their information may help to identify who was responsible."
Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
