A police probe's been launched in Cumbernauld following an armed robbery at Westfield Industrial Estate.

Three men threatened a worker, with what appeared to be a firearm, as he was locking up the Selecta store at around 5.10pm last night and forced him back inside the building.

The men then made off in a red coloured estate car, possibly on old type model with a five figure sum of cash.

The member of staff was not physically injured but has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

The first suspect is described as, in his late 40s, around 5 ft. 9 inches in height with a slim build and unkempt appearance.

The second suspect is in his 40s, around 5 ft. 9 inches in height with a slim build and wearing a black balaclava.

The third suspect is in his 20s, skinny build and around 5 ft. 6 inches in height. Officers are carrying out enquiries at the Industrial Estate and are gathering available CCTV footage for review. Detective Inspector David Reilly said: "There are two roads leading into this industrial estate and the incident occurred around finishing up time, so it’s possible the red car and its occupants were seen by people as they left work yesterday. I am appealing to anyone who may have noticed the car or who has any information to contact us.” Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Cumbernauld Police Office via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
