Police probe firebomb attack on Lanarkshire home

It's understood to be residence of local councillor

Police are investigating a firebomb attack on a house in Lanarkshire in the early hours yesterday

It's believed Strathaven Tory Councillor Graeme Campbell's home was targeted

Two cars were burnt out and the blaze spread to the property in Fortrose Gardens before rescue crews extinguished the flames

Police say a male in dark clothing was seen in the area around the time the fire started.

Officers are also checking for any relevant CCTV footage for review which could assist in the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin McGhee said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident. Did you notice anything suspicious or see anyone acting oddly?

“I would ask any motorists or taxi-drivers with dashcam devices to check their footage as the device may have captured images which could assist our investigation. Any small piece of information could assist us in identifying who is responsible for this attack.”
