A police probe’s been launched following a sex attack in Partick.

A 30-year-old woman was walking along Ferry Road, just before 7pm on Friday night, when she was approached by a man who tried to engage her in conversation.

The man then subjected the woman to a sexual assault. She managed to activate a personal alarm and the attacker ran off in the direction of the Clydeside Expressway.

The suspect is described as white, around 5’ 10 – 5’ 11 inches in height, between 20-25 years old, with a slim build, and spoke with a local accent.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark coloured beanie hat and dark coloured jeans.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and looking for any CCTV opportunities which could provide additional information.

Detective Constable Gordon Semple said:“I am appealing to people in the area to get in touch with us, the lady activated a personal alarm so I’m sure people will have heard the sound and perhaps went to the window to see what was happening.

“Perhaps you noticed something or saw the suspect run off. If you have any information at all, please contact us. It’s imperative we trace this man and we are doing everything we can to locate him.

“Anyone with information is asked to pass it on, no matter how insignificant it seems, let us assess it and judge is relevance to our ongoing enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID Officers at Drumchapel CID via 101. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you maintain anonymity.
