A police probe's been launched after a man was attacked in Dunoon at the weekend.

A 20-year-old man had to be treated for serious injuries at Cowal Community Hospital following reports of a disturbance at a flat in John Street on Saturday night.

Detective Inspector Douglas Wilson, Dunoon CID, said today: “A 20 year-old man has received treatment for serious injuries which we believe were inflicted with a bladed weapon. Our role is to determine how he came about those injuries and to identify the person or persons responsible.

“We believe that there may have been a disturbance inside a flat in John Street, Dunoon. It may have occurred between 2000 hours and 0030 hours on Saturday night into Sunday morning. Local residents may have heard a disturbance or witnessed individuals fleeing the area. I am asking anyone with any information to contact us. You may think the information you have is insignificant, but as part of our broader investigation, it could make all the difference."
