Police patrols stepped up after dog walker sexually assaulted in Erskine
A woman was attacked as she walked her dog in the early hours of Sunday
Patrols will be stepped up in Erskine after a dog walker was sexually assaulted in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 43-year-old woman was on a footpath in Erskine, Renfrewshire, when she was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted.
Police have released no details about the attacker, including whether they are a man or a woman.
The attack happened in Rashieburn near to Rashielee Avenue at around 3.15am.
Officers said the woman did not require hospital treatment but was left extremely distressed by the assault.
Inspector Cassie Glass, the officer in charge of policing the Erskine area, said: "To help re-assure the community in Erskine we have increased both high-visibility uniformed and plain-clothes patrols in the area. Anyone who has any concerns should speak to any of the officers or get in touch with me at Renfrew Police Office.
"A team of officers is continuing to investigate the assault which took place around 3.15 am as the woman walked her dog on a footpath in Rashieburn near to Rashielee Avenue.
"We are carrying out extensive house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage. Despite the early hour I am sure there will have been someone walking or driving in the area who may have witnessed the attack.
