Police patrols stepped up as thousands head to Troon beach again
The sunny, hot weather has brought thousands to Troon beach.
Thousands of youngsters are again gathering on Troon beach as more hot, sunny weather is forecast.
It’s understood two Facebook events have been set up to organise the gathering – one for Monday 24th July and one for Tuesday 25th July.
It comes following chaos last week at Troon beach when 6,000 teenagers gathered.
A team of just 25 police officers were deployed in response to reports of fights and underage drinking.
A total of 10 people were arrested in connection with anti social behavior.
In a bid to avoid a repeat of the carnage last week, the British Transport Police has imposed an alcohol ban on trains between Glasgow Central and Ayr.
Chief Inspector David Gray said, "Last week, more than 6,500 young people travelled to Troon to make the most of the hot weather during their summer holidays.
"Sadly, this led to some serious antisocial behaviour and disorder at the beach, but also on the trains travelling to and from the town.
"To prevent this kind of behaviour, BTP are part of the Safer Shores plan which involves our officers, the local authority, Police Scotland and Scotrail.
"We are committed to preventing any kind of antisocial behaviour which has a detrimental impact on everyone else using the railways.
"For this reason, we will be enforcing dry trains today and tomorrow on trains between Glasgow Central and Ayr from 10am until 2pm, and then on trains from Ayr to Glasgow from 5pm until 9pm.
"We want everyone to make the most of the sunny weather but please be sensible and considerate of other passengers. And if you need us, just text 61016"
