Police issue new appeal for Albanian who absconded from Dungavel

Police have issued a fresh appeal for help to trace an Albanian man who absconded from Dungavel detention centre.

Guxim Imerio, 25, left the facility in South Lanarkshire at about 9.40pm on Monday.

Police said he is not known to have family in the UK but has links to Manchester and they want to ''ensure that he is safe and well''.

Mr Imerio was last seen wearing a light-grey hooded top with a green Liverpool FC top underneath and grey jogging bottoms.

He is 5ft 6ins and of average build with short black hair and brown eyes.

He is described as having a clear complexion with an oval face and sharp features, and may be unshaven.

Officers said he is not fluent in English.

Inspector Aidan Higgins said: Extensive police enquiries are continuing to trace Guxim and our primary purpose is to confirm that he is safe and well.

I would urge Guxim or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch.

If you have any information which will assist officers in tracing Guxim and confirming that he is ok then please contact East Kilbride Police Station via 101 and quote incident number PS-20171106-4035.''

Officers also urged anyone with information to email Lanarkshiremissingpersons@scotland.pnn.police.uk, including the incident number and Mr Imerio's name in the subject field.
