Officers in Lanarkshire are appealing for information following a disturbance between a large group of youths at the Showcase Leisure Park, Coatbridge.

Around 8.25pm on Friday, 25 March, officers received reports of two groups of teenagers fighting within the area.

A 14-year-old girl suffered serious injuries. She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment.

A 13-year-old girl was also assaulted.

Detective Constable Shemain Murphy, Lanarkshire CID, said: “We are treated the attack on the 14-year-old girl as a serious assault and also investigating the assault of the 13-year-old girl. However, I have no doubt others were injured during this incident and I would urge anyone to come forward who has information about what happened.

“This incident took place in an area busy with people trying to enjoy their evening. The large crowd of youths caused a disturbance which was particularly intimidating for young children and families.

“With the area being busy, people may have taken pictures or videos on their mobile phones of what happened. There may also be dash-cam footage from the carpark.

“Anyone with information, pictures or footage of the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3367 of 25 March, 2022 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
