Main road in Ayr sealed off following serious assault in early hours
Reports suggest a man has been stabbed
A large part of Whitletts Road in Ayr is sealed off, after police were called to reports of a serious assault this morning.
At around 5:25am emergency services rushed to the scene, and one man has been taken to hospital, but his condition is not yet known. Local reports suggest the incident may be a stabbing.
No traffic has been allowed through between the Mainholm Road and Thornyflat Road junctions since around 6:30am.
A police cordon is in place around a row of shops, where all the shutters remain down.
Officers are standing guard, and all the information we’re being given is that there’s an ongoing police investigation, but that there’s no threat to the wider public.
