Detectives are hunting two men who held-up a shop in Bishopbriggs at gunpoint last night.

The masked pair targeted the Scotmid store on Auchinairn Road at around 2040 hours.

Police say they threatened staff with a gun and a knife before making off with a three figure sum of cash in a small white van towards Colston Road.

No firearm was discharged and no one was injured, however the three members of staff in the shop at the time, two women and one man, were extremely shaken as a result.

There were four customers in the shop at the time of the robbery.

The first suspect is described as 5ft 8 inches to 5ft 10 inches in height and of medium build. His face was covered by a black balaclava and he was wearing a black waterproof jacket, grey hooded top with the hood up, blue jeans and white trainers. He spoke with an English accent and was carrying what appeared to be a firearm.

The second suspect is described as 5ft 8 inches to 5ft 10 inches in height and of medium build. His face was also covered by a black balaclava and he was wearing a black jacket, dark coloured trousers and trainers. He spoke with a local accent and was carrying a bladed weapon.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Hunter of the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan Police Office said: “Enquiries are ongoing in the local area today and officers are also gathering and studying CCTV footage in an effort to gain more detail on the two men involved and the white van they made off in.
