Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in his own home in Coatbridge.

The 28 year old was in his house on Albion Street at around 1550hrs yesterday afternoon when three men burst in and stabbed him.

The gang also forced him to hand over his car keys and the suspects made off in his blue Volkswagen Golf with the registration number SG64 NZK.

The victim was treated for stab wounds at Monklands District General Hospital. The three men were around 6ft in height and of stocky build. They were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing. Detective Sergeant Alex Clark from Coatbridge Police Office is appealing for information. He said today: “At this time enquiries are ongoing to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident and the motive for it. Officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area and gathering CCTV footage in an effort to obtain more detail on the men responsible, and where the car headed after the robbery. I would appeal to anyone who has seen these men acting suspiciously in the area of Albion Street around the time of the incident to come forward. I would also urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen Volkswagen Golf to contact police.”
