A man has been stabbed in the chest in Glasgow city centre.

The incident happened shortly before 2.45pm on Tuesday at St Enoch's Square.

The 22-year-old victim was taken Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses and believe people in the area may have filmed or photographed the stabbing on their mobiles.

He was wearing a khaki jacket, similar trousers, a grey baseball cap with the logo "NY'' in white, dark trainers and carrying a JD Sports pink or red bag.

Detective Constable Graham Nicolson, of Stewart Street CID, said: "Our inquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to come forward.

"We have reviewed CCTV footage from the area and it appears a number of people may have witnessed the incident and some may have filmed or photographed it using their mobile phones.

"I urge anyone who would be able to assist to get in touch.''
