Police Scotland is appealing for information on the whereabouts of 24 year-old Jamie Roy.

He is on the run in Glasgow after escaping prison guards at the Royal Infirmary last night.

He was taken there from Barlinnie prison for treatment and it is believed he has links to Bishopbriggs.

Police say he is not a danger to the public but should not be approached.

Inspector Andrew Small said today:

"I would like to speak to anyone who is aware of Jamie Roy's whereabouts and would encourage them to contact police. We are searching areas in and around Glasgow as we believe at this time he is actively evading police.

"I would like to reassure the public that we are carrying out extensive enquiries and that Jamie Roy is not considered a danger to the general public however please contact police via 101 if he is seen.
