Police in Forth Valley are looking to trace two men in connection with a serious assault outside a pub in Falkirk last week. At around 7:45pm on Tuesday, December 22, a man in his 40’s sustained head injuries as a result of an unprovoked attack at the Mill Inn on Thornhill Road. Both suspects had entered the pub as part of a larger group and engaged another male in conversation at the bar. A short time later the male went outside and was followed by the suspects who proceeded to carry out a vicious assault before fleeing the scene. The injured man was taken by ambulance to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment and has since returned home. An investigation is now underway and police are appealing for the assistance of the public in an effort to trace the assailants. Detective Inspector Jim Thomson who is leading the investigation said: “This was a particularly violent attack, which has left the victim with significant injuries. We are appealing for any persons who were in the area of the Mill Inn pub in Thronhill Road about 7:45pm on Tuesday, December 22nd, and may have seen this incident to come forward or phone Crimestoppers. “We believe the two males responsible to be part of a much larger group who were out, possibly on a works night out. They were all wearing Christmas jumpers and had been at other pubs in the immediate area beforehand." Anyone with information that can assist with the ongoing investigation is asked to contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
