Police hunt attacker after serious assault in Dumbarton.
Man taken to hospital after being attacked in the street in the early hours of Sunday.
Police are hunting a man who attacked a man in Dumbarton in the early hours of Sunday the 27th August 20
The 38 year old was assaulted between 0305 and 0330 hours on Sunday morning.
He was taken by ambulance to Royal Alexandria Hospital, Paisley, where he was treated for serious injuries.
The suspect is described as male, white, in his late teens early twenties, 5 ft 10 in height, of slim build and has dark floppy hair.
He was wearing a dark jumper with the sleeves rolled up, dark denims and dark coloured footwear.
Detective Sergeant Gerry Shovlin, Clydebank CID, said today: “Officers are currently reviewing CCTV from the area and have been speaking to businesses and people in the area to see if anyone has any more information about the attack.
“We know that the man seems to have had some sort of conversation with his attacker who was with three other men at the time. For whatever reason, something happens and he is struck several times causing him to fall to the ground.
“The suspect’s friends pull him off the injured man and they head off along High Street. “From our enquiries, there were a good number of people in the fast food shops in the area when the assault took place. I would appeal to them or anyone else who saw the attack to contact us as their information could prove valuable to our investigation.
“I’m also keen to speak to a taxi driver stopped to try and assist the injured man. “If you are that taxi driver or one of those who was there, then please give officers a call as your information could be valuable to the investigation.”
