A four-year old girl has been left seriously injured following a hit and run incident in the Scotsoun area of Glasgow.
It happened at around 1pm on Monday 19 July, when police were called to reports a four year old girl had been struck by a car on Dumbarton Road, near to the Scotfresh store.
Emergency services attended and the girl was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow where she is currently receiving treatment for a serious leg injury.
The car did not stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The driver is described as a white female in her thirties.
Sergeant Roy McCarney of the Road Policing Unit told Clyde 1: "There was a 4-year old girl walking on the footpath with her mum and dad.
"They've made to cross the road of Dumbarton Road near to its junction with Balmoral Street in Queen Victoria Drive where the four year old girl has been struck by a dark-coloured motor vehicle.
"The driver of the dark coloured vehicle stopped initially and on speaking to the mum of the girl, she's thereafter made off into Queen Victoria Drive without stopping."
Sergeant McCarney said they're working hard to trace the driver involved.
He said: "A young child has been left with a serious leg injury as a result of this incident and it is absolutely vital that we trace the person driving the car involved.
"The surrounding area would have been busy with pedestrian and vehicle traffic at the time and I am appealing for any witnesses, in particular any motorists who may have dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward to assist the investigation.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 1550 of Monday, 19 July."
