Police appeal after woman raped in car park near Hamilton nightclub

Detectives are appealing for information following the rape of a woman in the Keith Street area of Hamilton.

The incident is believed to taken place within the Keith Street Car Park, shortly after 3am on Saturday, 25 May, 2024.

Police say that extensive enquiries are being carried out by a dedicated team of officers, who are keen to trace a white van parked in the area, which is believed to be linked to the attack.

Detective Inspector Gary Smillie said: “This incident took place shortly after the closure of a nearby nightclub, so we know there will have been a number of people and taxis in the area.

“We are keen to speak with anyone who was in the Keith Street area on Saturday night, as well as any taxis or other motorists who may have dashcam footage.

“We understand this is an extremely concerning incident and we are conducting increased high-visibility patrols in the area.
