Police appeal after attempted bag-snatches in Glasgow's West End

Police are appealing for information after a string of attempted thefts in the Woodlands area of Glasgow last night.

Two men on-board a motorcycle approached a number of pedestrians in an attempt to snatch bags and mobile phones between the hours of 9pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, August 6.

The men are described as wearing black balaclavas and hoodies with neither wearing a helmet. The motorbike is believed to be an older style, possibly a moped, and was not displaying a registration number.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and officers have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Laura Roberts said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen these men or who may have witnessed any of the incidents.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage.

“Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 4288 of 6 August.

“Alternatively, a call can be made anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
