Man in hospital with serious head injury after gang attack in Glasgow park

It happened at around 10.30pm on Saturday in the Ruchill area.

An investigation's underway after a man was found with serious head injuries following an attack in the Ruchill area of Glasgow.

It happened at around 10.30pm when a group of four men were leaving Ruchill Park onto Firhill Road when they found two people arguing.

One of the group, a 27-year-old man, tried to intervene and as a result sustained a head injury.

The group were then confronted by another group who assaulted two of the injured man’s friends.

The 27-year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment. The others were not injured.

The suspect is described as white, in his late teens to early twenties, with fair hair. He is described as wearing a red t-shirt and dark shorts.

Detective Constable Kevin Ford said: "We are carrying out enquiries in relation to this incident which resulted in a man being seriously injured.

"I am appealing to anyone who saw the groups in the area or anyone matching the above description to get in touch. If you have any home CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area, please check back and see if there is any footage that could assist our investigation."
