A man accused of writing political graffiti on a war memorial at George Square in Glasgow has a warrant out for his arrest.

Paul Nixon, 47, was due to stand trial today at Glasgow Sheriff Court but did not attend.

Court papers state he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on February 10 2024.

It is claimed that Nixon defaced the war memorial cenotaph and other statues by applying chalk graffiti of a political nature.

The charge further states that Nixon, of the city's Kelvinhall, committed breach of the peace.

A separate charge claims Nixon again behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on the same date.

It is alleged he applied chalk graffiti of a political nature on the walls of the Bank of Scotland and House of Fraser on the city's Argyle Street.

The charge goes on to say Nixon was challenged by members of staff at the bank.

He is stated to have became aggressive then shouted and swore at them.

The warrant was granted by Sheriff Patrick Hughes.
