The 45-year-old victim was allegedly attacked at his house in Strafford Walk, Dodworth, Barnsley, and then driven to East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, where he was shot in the knees and dumped by the side of a road in March.
Emergency services found the man on a grass verge near the junction of Stewartfield Way and Stewartfield Crescent on March 13 this year.
He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in the town for extensive treatment and has since been released.
Police north and south of the border launched a large-scale investigation named Operation Draken and a 48-year-old man has now been arrested by Police Scotland.
He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.
