Police Appealing for Information After Serious Crash in Motherwell

A male pedestrian is in a critical but stable condition

Police are seeking witnesses to a serious crash in Motherwell in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place on Burnside Road in Newarthill around 1:50am. It involved a grey Skoda Karoq and a 66-year-old man.

The force says the man was a pedestrian who had just exited a taxi.

The victim was taken to University Hospital Wishaw and was later transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His condition has been described as critical but stable.

Sergeant Ross Allison said: "Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances".

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and haven’t already spoken to police to get in touch".

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact 101 and quote reference 0384.
